Sickness

Sadness settles a deep frost in my bones

winter’s chill forms it’s icy cage

stilling the warm blooded flow of life

encompassed through unforgiving rage.

Countenance downcast, tears follow in procession

my body bereft of your touch’s confession

pallor skin dons an ashy reflection

forbidden words fuel my kiss’s obsession.

Silence stalks from beyond the grave

it’s icy breath invades my naked skin

lost in the temptation of wanton desire

strange tides rise to drown the warmth within.

Bitter taste, the heart’s sullen due

defender of elusive beasts

unearth the remnant of reserved discretion

a dance upon the table of feasts.

Walking in darkness my madness pervades

the hungry flesh I no longer feel

anxious to purge mortality’s bonds

a cup runneth over the soul’s zeal.

Bleeding out the tired distain

hope unfurled is love unrestrained

conjuring tendrils of hell’s consuming ire

usurping the power of lasting refrain.

Hell’s sickness shadows my eyes

the windows of my soul glaze over

laid to rest in dreams of youthful glee

I sleep in the hand that watches over me.

About celestealluvial

My blog, 'MORTAL HEARTS WITH IMMORTAL SOULS', is a place of fantasy, reality, spirituality and beauty. A place to unwind and find inspiration for the soul. It consists of my personal thoughts and experiences, poetry, prose, quotes, beautiful photos, uplifting music, words of encouragement, and undying love. I welcome respectful, open discussion, sincere opinions and feedback, and encourage any questions you may have personally or of that which pertains to the subject’s content. I recently began writing a paranormal romance story. It is my dream to become a published author and I have had an amazing experience on this new writing adventure. I live a quiet life, in the peace and tranquility of beautiful country surroundings. My husband and son are my life and my joy. I am your average person with a passion for reading and writing, and I love to sit and contemplate the mysteries of life and the experience of the human pilgrimage. This is a love story, the journey of our fragile, mortal bodies that have been endowed with the power of an immortal soul. I do hope you enjoy the content found in this blog. I pour out my heart and soul into each word and lovingly present it to the world, for better or for worse.

  2. Hopelessness
    -
Like touching sky still far above only to remember you fall
Like sliding down an endless slide set with razors dull
Like dragging yourself up sheer cliffs only to drop back again
Like tearing your heart to pieces on the cold dark floor of your den

You know the pain is passing
You know that it won’t last
You know that what you’re doing is
    Dwelling upon your past
    You shouldn’t keep on hurting
It’s your fault that you do
And everyone for all their years
    Cannot comfort you.

    Stand up in the fire
    Laugh in freezing rain
Cry out to the heavens that
    You will be whole again
Your heart is made of ashes
    Your soul of drowning hope
But none of that can matter much
    When you’ve reached the end
    Of your rope

You’ve had enough of giving up
You’ve had enough of giving in
The last thing that you want to do
    Is repent for your sin
    Of living-

    So live.

Reading your poetry ignites a fire in me sometimes, and I can’t express it any other way. <3 I love it. I love how it feels, to know exactly what words need to come next. Is it like that for you? Your poems always flow so well. This one is sadder than your usual fare, though. Are you okay, Celeste? It's a beautiful poem, even if it feels like it may have hurt to write. As usual with your work, I felt better about my own pain after reading it…. <3

    <3s,
    Eris

  6. Oh Celeste — this one was fiery but a different flavor than your usual fiery…. I hear you and really feel this:

    “Hell’s sickness shadows my eyes
the windows of my soul glaze over
laid to rest in dreams of youthful glee

  7. Submitting and finding comfort in whom watches over you. Enlightening piece.

  8. And to one that he loves, shall not happiness find its way, parting the dark sides of sadness so that your smile will be given life and illuminated again to be brighter than the sun or the stars…a true treasure never passes away, but only waits for one who will praise it’s rerturn…and His love will cure your heart with a purity that will never go away! You know i love the way your write…but there are times when our words speak for themselves things we cannot hide…rise up inspired by the words of those who embrace you daily…love is never far away for it always stays by your side Celeste! I send you my the light of my smile, as it is full of His eternal love and light!

  10. :) . A good poem, there is anger, sadness, scowling expression, mischievous desire, wisdom and love. But I’m most concerned about is: I sleep in the hand That watches over me.

Hi, you know something that many people no longer know. Sleep in the hand That watches over me, is the Ascension! “You Sleep In The Grip Him There” .
I hope, in your sleep, you get a lot of beautiful and amazing knowledge. Tell me please. …. Happy in your blog … :)
